ChatGPT is super hot right now. Every tech bro and coder is going crazy over it for good reason. It can do so many crazy things including creating code, acting as an executive assistant and now acting as a stand in to help you prep for that interview coming up.

I did this little experiment to see if I could use ChatGPT to help me prep for an interview at a specific company based on my personal resume. The results were actually amazing and I wanted to share the prompt pathway I used to get some very good questions!

Priming the System

To start our experiment I need to provide two sets of information to ChatGPT.

My Resume

Job Description

Let’s first put these into the chat and see how it responds:

A good start! It knows what we intend to send it something and is awaiting further information. Now paste in the resume:

A portion of my resume

You see that I gave it some context of what I am sending and pasted the whole unedited resume in. It comes back with:

Woah woah dude, I haven't even given you the job description yet! At this point I cancelled the the request. While it would have given some interesting general HR questions I wanted something more specific to the JD provided.

Ok now it has context of how my resume would fit into the role.
